Since the word go, our SEAT Ibiza has been transforming from an ugly duckling, turning slowly but surely into the swan it should be. It has also undergone another less obvious change from a tame fuel efficient daily drive, to a; powerful, responsive, Type R chasing diesel, with the same torque as the current BMW M3.
With only a few modifications to improve breathing: a larger PD160 intake and a green panel filter. There is little else to explain the huge increase in power, than the remap from AS Tuning.
We came across AS Tuning as they are a local (South East) mobile remapping service, after a few calls a date was arranged. It was Saturday 24th May at 09:00hrs in a short hour and a half the Ibiza would see new found power.
At 130bhp and 229lb/ft torque, it is a surprisingly nippy car, with great midrange acceleration.
After the Chipped UK supplied remap the following results were obtained:
176bhp and 295lb/ft torque. This is an unbelievable 46bhp and 66lb/ft torque.
The car now drives and feels the same during normal driving. However open up the throttle a little bit more and you see why a remap is the best option for all you turbo’d car drivers. The pull from 2.5k rpm all the way to 4.5k rpm is very strong and smooth. And before long you will be reaching the speed limits.
The car simply pins you to the seat as it effortlessly pulls from 0-60 in a possible 7 seconds and a good ¼ mile run would be sub 15 seconds.
After a quick trip to the local Rolling Road the power figures were confirmed. With a power graph in hand and a short 2 mile drive home, who can keep a straight face?!
